Guidance Notes For Holding An Event

In order to safeguard individuals and organisations who are raising money on behalf of the

Friends of Robert Owen House, and to ensure that members of the general public feel confidant

about giving, we have produced the guidelines which incorporate some major changes in Charity law.

Once you have decided on the date and format of your event, we would be grateful if you could send

us the details by completing the Event Registration Form and returning it to us at the address below.

We will then issue you a letter of authorisation and would be delighted to provide and further help

and support.

There is a legal requirement for any publicity material produced to help raise funds to bear the

name and registration number of the Charity. The details you need to include are:

Friends of Robert Owen House, Registered Charity No 839 (Isle of Man).

Alternatively, please contact our office at the address on the form, and we will be happy to

help by providing any other details you may require. We can also provide leaflets, posters,

sponsorship forms, a banner and collection boxes.

If you need to include some further information about the Friends of Robert Owen House,
we suggest you use the following wording:

ROBERT OWEN HOUSE provides overnight accommodation for relatives and carers of patients
who find themselves in the Cardiothoracic Centre, often to undergo life-saving heart or lung
treatment and surgery.
The facilities at Robert Owen House avoid the need for a family to have to find accommodation
in Liverpool, with all the associated problems. More than anything else it gives peace of mind to
patients knowing that their loved one is safely housed nearby whilst they are undergoing serious,
often major surgery.”

If your event involves making a collection in public (streets, highways etc), then you need to obtain
the necessary permits from your local authorities.  We can help by providing authorised, sealed
collection boxes - please phone us for further details.

We can help with attempting to get local publicity for your event if sufficient notice is given.

Friends of Robert Owen House,

24 Laurel Avenue,
